Butterfly and Fern Specimen Serving Tray with Bamboo Handles, 17"

A wood framed serving tray with a clear acrylic top laid over a composition of real preserved butterflies and pressed ferns. A pale yellow butterfly and a larger brown and cream spotted specimen sit at the lower corners, with fronds of magenta dyed and natural green fern arching across the field and a small green caterpillar climbing one stem. The ground is a textured swirled paper that gives the whole thing depth. Bent bamboo handles are fitted at each end and the back is solid wood. Measures roughly 17 inches wide by 11 inches deep. Specimen trays like this were a mid century staple and they have come all the way back around, equally at home holding perfume bottles on a dresser, corralling remotes on an ottoman, or hung flat as botanical wall art.
