Condition: Vintage pre-owned condition with age-related paint loss, scuffs, small chips, surface cracking and general wear. Handmade papier-mâché construction is visible on the reverse. Back has a handwritten gift inscription reading To Sir With Love Shivani 9/26/96. Description: Colorful hand-painted papier-mâché Hanuman monkey mask featuring a dramatic pink/red face, large expressive eyes, prominent teeth, protruding tongue and detailed yellow, red and black decoration. The mask is handmade with visible layered papier-mâché construction on the reverse. The handwritten inscription dated September 26, 1996 establishes that the piece dates to at least 1996. Measures approximately 9 inches tall x 7 inches wide. Lightweight and well suited for wall display. A wonderfully expressive piece of Indian-inspired folk art with plenty of character and visible handmade details.
